Hoi An ancient town
Hoi An is one of the most wonderful towns for tourist who would like to travel to Vietnam as it is listed in top 10 best destinations of Asia in 2012. Hoi An ancient town with colorful lantern at nights, pristine old houses, special cultural elements, and friendly local people warmly welcome all of tourists.
Hoi An, originally known as Faifo, is located in central Quang Nam province, approxiamately 30 kilometers south of Danang and it this ancient town is bordered on the southern side by Thu Bon River. The name “Hoi An” (Hội An) means “peaceful meeting place”. In the past, Hoi An was the biggest sea port in central of Vietnam from the 15th to the 19th century. UNESCO declared Hoi An's Ancient Town district a World Heritage Site in 1999.
Hoi An is very easy to get around. You can hire a bicycle or walk on foot - the best way to appreciate the vibe, especially at night. The Japanese Bridge crosses a small canal on the west end of the Old Town, connecting Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street to Tran Phu Street - the main thoroughfare along the river. Art galleries and cafes line both sides of the peaceful street beyond. And Quan Cong Temple – in Tran Phu Street – was constructed around 1653. This temple is dedicated to Quan Cong - a Chinese general famed for his loyalty and integrity.
You should try a bowl of local “Cao Lau” noodles - made nowhere else in the world - before checking out one of the traditional performances for an authentic Hoi An Ancient Town experience. Tourists can watch traditional performances such as folk songs, dance, traditional instruments or live musical performances in traditional theater or Hoi An Handicraft Workshop… Moreover, visitors can visit some museums (Museum of Folk Culture, Museum of Trade Ceramics, Hoi An Museum of History and Culture, Museum of Say Huynh Culture) or old houses (Phung Hung House, Quan Thang House, Tan Ky House) in the ancient town.

Hoi An could be the most attractive ancient town in Vietnam - that still remains many old houses from hundred year ago
